Abstract

Evidence points toward a role for the Mediterranean diet in preventing obesity. It also seems to be a safe strategy for treating metabolic syndrome and reducing associated cardiovascular risk. Moreover, results suggest that promoting eating habits consistent with Mediterranean dietary patterns may be a useful part of efforts to combat obesity.
