Rationale: ere are typically many ways to architect a system or subsystem. Some of
these ways will be significantly better than others, whereas there may not be a lot of differ-
ence between others. Even highly experienced and proficient architects rarely envision an
optimal architecture at first attempt. Typically, it is not until several competing architectural
visions have been identified and compared that an architectural approach that adequately
addresses the often competing quality concerns is identified.
