9.1 Introduction
During this MFESA task, the system or subsystem architecture team identifies and initially ana-
lyzes opportunities for architectural reuse of architectural decisions and inventions such as styles,
patterns, and the relevant elements of existing architectural structures (Figure 9.1).
A key reason for performing this task is to avoid reinventing “architectural wheels” by leverag-
ing knowledge and experience gained from prior architecture engineering efforts. Where practi-
