Associate with Eagles, not Turkeys

If each of us hires people who are smaller than we are, we shall become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people who are bigger than we are, we shall become a company of giants.

I know people who look down at others, but will never look up to someone who is doing better than they are. They like to think they have the best house or car on the street. Well, they may have, but if they go a mile down the road, their house and car would be the worst.

If you always look down instead of up, you will never progress. Focus downwards and the chances are you'll start moving downwards. Aim high, look up, and notice people who are doing better than you. This will help you soar like an eagle, not run around like a turkey.

Find yourself a role model—someone you can relate to. Try to associate with people who are positive and winning at life. The people you surround yourself with can help you or hold you back. Now I'm not saying you should always be chasing the bigger and better deal, but realize your true potential.

Let me give you an example of good association and bad association.

A good association is Weight Watchers. If you are trying to lose weight on your own, it can be very difficult. Weight Watchers brings people interested in losing weight together. The group encourages, sets goals, and has past slimmers as role models. Most people who visit Weight Watchers find the meetings very uplifting and get motivation and inspiration ...
