Many investigators often rely on interview tactics that consider the eyewitness mendacious in their recollections. While they don’t necessarily teach officers in the academy that eyewitnesses may be prone to fabricating details of the crime or facial descriptions of the suspect, it may be that many law enforcement officers are uninformed about the fundamental principles of eyewitness memory.
