I had my first baby when I was thirty-six. I had every intention of going back to work full time once Cooper was three months old, and I followed through. I headed to the office with my breast pump, and the first day was glorious. For the first time since he was born, I felt like an adult again. I went out to lunch, and I pumped while I was on the phone (not that that was fun, but it gave me some freedom). I felt like a productive person in the world. Then came day two.
