Trap
On the way back to the office, Shay made a call to his assistant, Rita, to whom he said only five words. “I’ll be there in ten.”
Liam wondered why their arrival time mattered but dismissed it without any thought.
As they pulled up to the office and climbed out of the car, Shay made a comment that raised Liam’s suspicions.
“You know, I really respect you, Liam, and appreciate you coming up here. I hope you know that.”
A little confused, Liam paused before shutting his door. “Uh, okay. Thanks.”
When they entered the office, Rita was waiting for them. “Joe and Kerry are in the conference room upstairs.”
“Thanks, Rita.”
As they climbed the stairs leading to the nicest conference room in the building, Liam asked, “Are you expecting someone?” ...
