From MDF to OMG Chest
French Revival used to be all the rage. You can find gorgeous pieces of furniture with magnificent architectural detail formed out of a plastic-resin-like substance, mingled with MDF paneling. Laminate was also popular due to its durability, so you will find a lot of the tops on these pieces are faux wood—a hard laminate that looks like wood grain. In the 1980s and ’90s, these pieces of furniture were made to last. They are heavy, sturdy, and have the perfect bones to create a magnificent canvas. We’re going to take this outdated chest and give it a beautiful farmhouse look with a weathered barnwood top.
