Goals

  • To demonstrate the dynamics of negotiating, competition, and power.

  • To explore issues involved in comparing individual values to group values.

  • To discuss issues of hidden and open agendas.

  • To explore issues of group member status.

  • To demonstrate issues of trust.

Group Size

Up to thirty-six, preferably a number divisible by six.

Time Required

Forty-five to ninety minutes to play a minimum of two rounds and discuss all the issues. If time is limited, select only the most pertinent discussion questions.

Materials

  • One copy of the Power Poker Facilitator Notes for the facilitator.

  • One Power Poker Sample Play Sheet for the facilitator
