If you’re staying in a hotel, chances are the staff speak enough English to assist you. If you’re in an agriturismo (bed and breakfast), you’ll need to be flexible and communicate your needs in Italian. That’s where I come in.

Location is everything. Perhaps you want your hotel to be in the heart of the city, close to the action. Maybe you want a place that is slightly off the beaten track. What services are nearby?
When you check out, you will be given a fattura (invoice), conto (bill), or ricevuta (receipt). Take your receipts: Italian law requires it.
