Selling Your Shares

While you shouldn’t use direct stock investing if you’re planning to buy and sell shares frequently, you may occasionally need cash and want to sell shares. Many companies offer you three ways to do this:
Sale orders via phone: You can call your company’s transfer agent and place a sale order. Most companies will ask for your Social Security number or other identifier to be sure it is you. Many have automated phone systems that will take you through a series of steps to start the sales process. Be sure you have your most recent statement on hand to be able to give your account number and other identifying information.
