Tracking Partial DRIP and OCP-Only Options
Some DRIP and DSP companies allow shareholders to designate that only a portion of the regular dividends be reinvested, and the remainder paid in cash. Others allow an OCP-only option. With the OCP-only option, dividends are paid as cash to the shareholder, but the shareholder may still make OCPs through the DRIP or DSP. For those who rely on dividend income (such as retirees), these can be attractive features.
If you do have a DRIP or DSP plan where these options exist, you need to keep an even more careful watch on the statements to be sure your investments are being accurately managed by the administrator.
