Investment Limits

You can’t invest an unlimited dollar amount when you buy stock through a DRIP or DSP plan. Most companies limit the amount you can invest with each transaction, as well as the number of transactions you can make per year. Others limit the total amount you can invest for the year.
You probably will never hit the maximum investment limits if you are a small investor. For most companies the investment limit is usually something like $10,000 or more per month. Many companies allow you to buy as much as $350,000 to $500,000 per year. If you really do have that much money to invest commission-free, you really can’t complain that the company sets limits.
