077 Scale

The choice of scale can greatly affect the way that a work of art is experienced and the kind of expression available to the artist.

Miniature. Very tiny works can exhibit qualities of compression, delicacy, and intimacy.

Small. Works of a modest scale can readily present the touch of the artist since the scale of mark to that of the whole work is usually fairly large.

Medium. As the size of a work increases, its physical presence becomes more of a factor.

Large. Here, the physical presence of a work can become its most overwhelming feature.
