Preface

This chapter provides an overview of the design–build project delivery approach and begins with the definition of the design–build process and a review of its origin and evolution. In contrast to the common belief, design–build is neither a new nor a revolutionary process, but indeed the natural and sensible way of delivering construction projects. For a better understanding of the process, a comparison between design–build and the traditional design–bid–build methods is presented.
