CHAPTER 10Corporate
The solutions I talk about for corporations are really applicable for any organisation, large or small. I talk about government policy in the next chapter, but public sector organisations like the NHS in the UK really fall under corporate solutions as much as they do under government ones because they are run in the same way as a business, particularly when it comes to introducing and upgrading tech, even though they operate for the public good rather than for profit.
Why Do Businesses Need to Take This Seriously?
One of the strongest arguments for focusing on privacy and security online is reputational protection. What is seen to be protective and secure is increasingly being valued by prospective clients, as well as by the businesses themselves that are looking to buy both software and hardware. If, as a business, you do not take online security and protection seriously, you will find that you take a financial hit.
This is particularly true if you are a company that is developing and selling software, as we saw in 2020 with the SolarWinds hack, which resulted in the cyber security of many US government agencies being breached.
