Island Southeast Asia (Indonesia and the Philippines)
Abstract:
Economic development in the island nations of Southeast Asia, the Philippines and Indonesia, takes on some unique characteristics due to each country being an archipelago. The business environment in the Philippines has been influenced by its history of being a colony of both Spain and the USA while Indonesia is the most populous country in the world with a Muslim majority. Case studies are presented and the use of unrelated diversification strategies in LDCs is examined.
