Projects must be, and be seen to be, under control; no one is likely to invest money in an enterprise perceived as poorly managed and out of control.

  • Only collect information that will be used to control the work.
  • Check what you are being told – go and see for yourself.
  • Keep reports timely, simple and relevant to the recipient.
  • Don’t forget to monitor what is happening outside the project.
  • Act on deviations, once verified – change the plan if needed!
