Introduction

Theatre has been an important part of my life for nearly three decades. Working in the prop shop, managing a show, creating a world onstage— this rewards the dedicated prop person in ways unimaginable. The collaboration with other artists and designers creates a community of creativity and possibility rarely experienced by other artistic practitioners. In the theatre, we are bound by the script, defined by the design, and open to every possibility within our imagination. We collaborate to produce the elements of time, place, and character. In production, no part stands separate from the others, and in the coming together of costumes, lights, sound, scenery, and props, we define the world on stage.
