Microsoft has improved the service recovery in Microsoft Windows Server 2008.
The ability still exists to set a process to recover from a failed service or service
event. This can be restarting the service a certain number of times or running
a script or executable file. More services can be restarted or recovered without a
reboot—which saves the administrator a lot of unplanned reboots. For instance,
it is now possible to restart the Active Directory with a reboot.
