Trending and Baseline Analysis
When you first install a server, you should run a baseline analysis against it during
normal operation—I would like to stress during normal operation. A baseline analysis
taken when there is no load on the server will not help when you actually need the
data. Baseline analysis helps you when the server begins to run slow and you want
to compare the performance metrics to when the server was first installed. This
takes user perception out of the picture and allows for real data to back up claims
that the server is running slow.
