The development of the actor training system, which we know today as Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, took over 15 years to crystalise: from the first failures of the staging of new drama at the Theatre-Studio (1905) to the more coherent acting system successfully utilised to produce some of the artistically outstanding performances at the Meyerhold Theatre such as The Magnanimous Cuckold (1922).
