Introduction

Not all acts of transmission develop over extended period of time or necessarily leave a long-term impact on the work of a practitioner. Some are marked by shorter bouts of interest in a practice or technique, or an ambiguous connection between two practitioners. The scope of such seemingly minor instances of transmission, however, should not be discarded as superfluous. It may help to diversify the work of a particular theatre-maker – not changing it fundamentally, that is – but perhaps opening a window or door through which a practitioner’s developmental arch is rendered less homogenised and more eclectic. ...
