To ask why Vsevolod Meyerhold has been a source of inspiration for generations of theatre-makers in and beyond the twentieth century is a good way of probing into governing notions surrounding acting, not to mention those of stagecraft and scenography. Building on this premise, the present chapter examines these fundamentals of theatre in view of the aesthetic relationship between Meyerhold and the critically acclaimed Turkish director Şahika Tekand (born 1959).
