In earlier chapters, we discussed the online group and participation activities. In this chapter, we tackle the work that you do on your own. In some ways, it has the most in common with its analog equivalent, homework. You’ve been doing some form of homework as a part of your education for some time. When done right, these independent activities reinforce your learning and allow you to become more familiar with new content and concepts. Online individual work serves the same function. The key difference here is that instead of using older technology—paper and ink—you use newer tools to work on and submit assignments.
