Another day, another company.
Back in the day when I was still working mostly by myself, I was hired to help a company whose Chief Information Officer (CIO) knew me from a previous engagement I had with him elsewhere.
The first contract with them had me write up a report on whether, and if so how, they should tackle payment card industry (PCI) compliance, which as this fellow knew was right up my alley.
So I did that, and the report was received very favorably, and then the more exciting thing happened from my perspective, which was that I was able to proceed into an ongoing “virtual CISO” (vCISO, that is, virtual Chief Information Security Officer) agreement with them.
