This is perhaps the single most important decision you will make on your doc. Think it over long and hard, because the essence of documentary is editing. This is where the story is actually told. Up until this point, you’ve only got a collection of pretty pictures and talking heads. How you juxtapose that material, what info you leave out, what shots and comments you put in, the music you use, the prevailing viewpoints, pacing, all of these things are decided in editing and will make or break your story in the end. This isn’t a decision to be taken lightly.
