Whilst there are some excellent books that delve deep into the theory of large-scale sound systems, I’ve always felt that many of these were a little too theoretical, and that what many people really need is practical guidance on getting a good sound when playing small venues, using their own back-line and PA system. In many ways, this is actually more challenging than working in large-scale venues, as the audience will always be hearing a blend of the backline and what comes over the PA, whereas in a stadium the contribution of the back-line is almost insignificant.
