The camera's path

The Steadicam operator's job is to get the shot. The camera usually has a predetermined path on which to travel. There may be times when the operator cannot simply walk alongside the Steadicam There may be obstacles, or the camera may change direction. However, the operator still must get the shot, without giving away any changes or difficulties encountered during each take.

Once the camera is set in motion (remember: the arm hand starts the camera moving), the operator can move freely about the Steadicam without disturbing the camera's path — as long as he maintains perfect form.
