SCENE 3ENTER THE GREMLIN
At some point in any Hollywood movie the hero or heroine says, ‘No, I can't do this.’ In The Lord of The Rings, Frodo doesn't want to take the ring. In The Matrix, Neo refuses to follow Morpheus' voice. Luke Skywalker, Katniss Everdeen… They all doubt their skill. They all feel unworthy. They all have a moment when they don't think they can do it. In other words, they all fall prisoner to their gremlins. They need a wise mentor to open their eyes to the lies they have believed, so they can realise their inner strength and become the hero they need to be.
And it's just the same with storytelling.
We think our story isn't good enough, or powerful enough, or we compare ourselves. And comparison is the killer of storytelling. ...
