CHAPTER 13The Branch Manager's Role as a Supernova Multiplier
Since The Supernova Advisor was written, the leadership component of the Five Star Model has evolved into the single most important role. The leader is the most critical part of every team. Without their vision, drive, discipline, and ambition the team will not achieve at the level it should. What I have discovered is that leadership, on several different levels, is the key to teams successfully implementing the Supernova Process. In order to be a successful Supernova team every team member needs to be onboard and critically linked in their purpose of helping the leader succeed. If you are in a large firm you also need the support and full engagement of firm management. We have found that where upper management is fully engaged in the coaching of the Supernova Process both the leaders and the team as a whole is upwards of 30% to 50% more successful. This is another Supernova Multiplier.
In coaching thousands of teams, my team and I have noted that the difference has been remarkable when some of the cost of coaching is covered by local management or by corporate allocation. When a major firm required a local manager to be on every call the team and the manager were more engaged and had a sense of what was needed from the firm to support them. In fact, the results were dramatically better. How do you measure that?
