“I must be giving off one of those vibes again. That’s what we do . . . we give off vibrations and then we pick up the vibrations from our gaydar . . . so I’ve heard.”
Growing up, I became acquainted with a kid named Joe who would eventually become a close friend. We went to movies, played sports, and spent time at each other’s homes. As I became closer with Joe, some people began asking me, “Does Joe like girls?” I shrugged it off. Friends of mine labeled him “gay” and began teasing me about the amount of time Joe and I spent together. I ignored it when my friends made these “accusations.” Eventually Joe and I grew apart naturally, making other friends and occupying different social niches.
