Get to Standardization

As we have discussed throughout this book, standards were everywhere at TMMK, and “living” the standards was interwoven into our daily thinking. This assimilation was based on enormous trust on the part of employees that standards were there for a good reason—to help people meet their expectations as members of a team that continuously improved work to benefit the customer and the company. We never saw standards as a hindrance because we understood the “why,” and our constant awareness of the thinking behind the standards assisted us greatly in seeing abnormality at a glance.
