In this chapter, we’ll look at the underlying architecture of TYPO3, what is built in as Core features, and how you can extend it with custom code.

As we discussed in the previous chapter, “Designing and Planning,” you can save yourself a lot of extra work by understanding the tools you use. This translates into knowing when to configure what is there, when to find third-party extensions, and when to write your own.
