Defining the “Difficult Boss”
To research the concept of managing up—and managing the difficult boss in particular—my company, Professionalism Matters, launched an online survey asking a wide range of professionals to share feedback (anonymous) on their managers, particularly the difficult ones. I was somewhat afraid I’d get crickets, to be perfectly honest. I’m well aware that employees are often very reticent about providing candid feedback on their experiences with their own leadership.
