THE FIRST THREE chapters for Part III highlighted some of the negative social outcomes of the disappearing public corporation. The social safety net that was held aloft by corporate employers is falling apart; inequality is going up; mobility is going down. Should we be nostalgic for the dominance of corporations? Should we be trying to bring them back?
In this chapter I describe some of the silver linings of corporate decline.
