Camera Mountings

A firm camera support is essential for steady shots. A good mounting permits smooth shot development over a wide range of camera heights and angles.

Tripod

This is a three-legged stand with independent adjustment of the length of each leg. The tripod is cheap and light. With the addition of a wheeled based (skid) the ‘rolling tripod’ can be easily moved, but only out of vision if optimum smoothness is required. Some have an adjustable centre column that permits changes in camera height, but only out of vision (see page 183).

Pedestal
