Sound Mixing Console: Outputs

The main programme output of the sound console is fed to the VT machine or the transmission network. More sophisticated designs of sound mixing console include additional auxiliary outputs, foldback, public address and clean feed.

Foldback

Here one or more selected sources are fed to loudspeakers on the studio floor. On most sound consoles, the volume (level) of the foldback is controllable on the console. The most common function of foldback is to provide audible cues to performers.
