Contemporary visual effects–driven movies routinely contain hundreds of visual effects shots. Is it any surprise, then, that the postproduction period may last much longer than principal photography? And just sit through the end credits of any recent VFX-heavy film, and you will see the names of several hundred people who contributed their talents to the visual effects. On many such projects, the VFX Producer will just be hitting full stride when postproduction starts.
