Color is a vital part of photographic images, and since the 1950s most photographers have preferred color film to black-and-white. In scanning color originals, you will face two major challenges. The first challenge is reproducing the analog original as closely as possible. For positive targets, you can calibrate your scanner to enhance its accuracy; for negative film, there is no comparable technique. The second challenge is accurately reproducing the colors of the original scenery. This is a task where film profiles can potentially help improve your scanning results.
