The assessment of the performance of thermal energy storage (TES) systems in buildings through implementing control and optimization techniques is vital in conserving energy and reducing environmental emissions. The incorporation of control systems in TES helps to store and deliver the actual cooling capacity required for shifting the peak load demand in buildings. Through controlling the rate of charging and discharging capacity of the TES, the peak load demand in buildings can be reduced from 30% to 80%.
