Abstract

Thermal energy storage (TES) on a broad perspective can be thought of as a technology that offers an opportunity to experience relatively low dependency on fossil fuel-based energy sources with reduced energy and electricity costs. The economics of the TES systems can be largely realized on the basis of their successful installation and operation as per design guidelines. The energy-efficient design based on the exergy component of life cycle analysis can help accomplish enhanced cost savings potential of the TES systems on a long-term basis.
