Applications of Thermal Energy Storage Systems

Abstract

Thermal energy storage (TES) systems are much preferred in many engineering applications, which have the ability to bridge the gap between energy supply and energy demand. Cooling or heating energy redistribution requirements can be effectively met using TES systems. The peak load demand can be shifted to off-peak hours by utilizing stored heat energy from TES units. From the perspective of heat storage and release capabilities, the latent functional phase change materials exhibit good phase transition characteristics compared to sensible and thermochemical energy stores.
