India Inc.

The rise of Indian management thinking has been accompanied by the rise of India as an economic powerhouse led by the flag carriers of corporate India. India Inc. now boasts several benchmark global brands that act as role models for companies around the world. The growing list includes the likes of Tata (which owns Jaguar Land Rover); the technology companies Wipro, Infosys, and HCL Technologies; and the tractor maker Mahindra & Mahindra.

India Inc. (along with China Inc. and some other notable newcomers) increasingly poses a challenge to the hegemony of the top Western companies. It is notable, too, that the CEO of Microsoft is the Indian-born Satya Nadella.
