16.1 Failover concept and terminology
The SQL database is the single most important component of IBM Tivoli
Business Systems Manager. The basic principle of failover is to secure this
database and all the supporting services that run IBM Tivoli Business Systems
Manager by enabling processes and procedures to switch from the primary set of
IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager Windows servers to a secondary set in a
controlled manner.
The failover process can be invoked for any of the following reasons:
