2. Database and Schema Browsers

There are numerous Oracle database tasks that TOAD simplifies and, therefore, for which it enhances end-user productivity. Given this fact, it’s difficult to state that any feature of TOAD is the most important. At its heart, however, TOAD makes short work of browsing database objects and their data, and manually querying those items. The latter task is covered in the next two chapters on SQL and PL/SQL editing, and for many is arguably the most strategically important TOAD feature. This chapter focuses on the first task—being able to simply and quickly traverse the plethora of database objects and their associated data.
