Home to some of the finest buildings and widest boulevards in Budapest, the area around Városliget (City Park) is where the city has long come to play. From the cafés and bistros of Liszt Ferenc tér and the mansions of Andrássy út and Városligeti fasor, to the huge City Park itself – fronted by the magnificent Millennium Monument – everything is built on a splendidly grand scale. Városliget was chosen as the centre of the city’s 1896 Millennium Celebrations, and among the magnificent buildings constructed at the time were the Museum of Fine Arts and Vajdahunyad Castle.
