1. Indian is Best

It may sound obvious, but the best food in Delhi is Indian. Although there are a few upmarket exceptions, by and large you are most likely to eat well if you stick to Indian dishes, rather than trying the versions of European or Chinese food offered at the city’s various multi-cuisine restaurants.

2. Go Regional

There is much more to subcontinental cuisine than the stereotypical Anglo-Indian menus served abroad (and even in Delhi itself). The city has some superb regional restaurants specializing in little-known cuisine from across the subcontinent; try Punjabi by Nature, Oh! Calcutta, or the excellent, cheap South Indian food served up in the citywide Saravana Bhavan chain.
