Planning your Trip

1. What to Pack

Devon and Cornwall get more sun than any other part of Britain, but be prepared for all kinds of weather. On the coasts especially, the wind can be fierce. Walkers should pack waterproofs. Never underestimate the power of the sun – a sun hat and a good sunscreen are recommended. Chilly sea temperatures persuade many to swim in a wetsuit which, along with surf equipment and other beach gear, can be rented or bought here.

2. Currency

Most currencies can be changed for British pounds and pence at major banks and main post offices. ATMs are widely found through the region. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels, though many B&Bs will not take them. Sometimes a surcharge is added for credit card transactions.
