Asian Istanbul is predominantly residential, but this little-visited part of the city has many hidden treasures. Around Üsküdar you can see several of Sinan’s mosques, take in the jaw-dropping views from the top of Büyük Çamlıca and visit the Florence Nightingale Museum in the Selimiye army barracks. You can wander the markets, then kickback in the cafes at Kadıköy or more upmarket Moda. The Haydarpaşa Station was once the terminus for trains from Asia although its future is now uncertain. Frequent ferries from Eminönü and Karaköy as well as the Marmaray underwater Metro link make for an easy hop between continents.
